Snow Days

While we didn't get the apocalyptic blizzard that the Weather Network was breathlessly promising, we did get about 15 cm (6 in) of snow Tuesday and Wednesday.  Just enough to get outside to have some fun.  We can't wait until next year when we can get Zain on a sled.  This year, we'll have to settle for walks and snowshoeing.

It was pretty cold and windy yesterday, but we try to get outside at least once a day regardless of the weather.  He's usually more than cozy enough in the carrier, with our body heat, his snowsuit, and a fleece carrier cover.  But it was a little extra windy yesterday, so Shif wanted to devise a system that would protect Zain from any possible weather-related stress.  So we encased the boy in his carrier inside the giant parka I got when we went to the Arctic a few years ago.  It worked, but it's not really a look that I think Shif will be sporting very often.

Today was a beautiful sunny day, and a little warmer.  So we headed to High Park with Zain and Binda and did some snowshoeing.  It's the first time we've had Zain in the back position in the carrier.  It seemed to work well.  He's usually very quiet when he's on a walk, and just likes to look around at everything passing by.  Same today and then he eventually fell asleep.
