Zain and I were throwing rocks in the water off the town dock in Woody Point. A cranky-looking old guy rode by us on a 4-wheeler, giving us what seemed like a grumpy look. He rode out along the bay and then returned a few minutes later, and started driving toward us. I thought he was going to tell us we couldn't be on the dock or something. But... he had been picking these wild roses and gave us one and told us the story of the briar rose. We kept it in the car through our whole trip and it still smelled lovely two weeks later. Moral of the story: don't judge books by their crotchety-looking covers. |
